Windows Defender is included with Windows. It's a small piece of software that runs in the background to help protect your computer from malware (malicious software) like viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software. Some spyware protection is better than none, and it's built-in and free! But if you're running something that offers great anti-malware protection, defender is likely wasting precious resources, there's no need to have multiple applications running at the same time.

Defender Control - Disable Windows Defender

Defender Control is a portable tool that stands out in a simple user interface that lets you disable/enable or even launch Windows Defender. Windows Defender can be useful for speeding up overall times when you find yourself copying large amounts of data to and from your PC or USB, or if you have conflicts between Windows Defender and another type of antivirus solution. It can also be beneficial for users with a resource-light machine or a top-tier alternative installation.

The problem with all versions of Defender in Windows Vista and later is that it is built into the operating system and installed by default with no visible or hidden options to uninstall it. Many people are looking to disable or remove it from their systems because they prefer to use other software, for example on Windows 8 and 10, you can no longer disable Windows Defender completely, Click Settings in Windows Defender to open the control panel for the program in the new Windows Settings app. You can temporarily disable the program's real-time protection, but if you turn it off for a while, Windows will automatically turn it back on. It's unclear why Microsoft decided to change Windows Defender's behavior in this regard. However, it is sure to be annoying for users who want to permanently disable it on the computer they are working on.
