Desktop.ini Editor 1.2

The desktop.ini file is a hidden Windows operating system configuration settings file located in every folder and is used to store information about how Windows folders are organized. Basically, if the layout or settings for a folder is changed, a desktop.ini file is automatically created to save those changes.

Desktop.ini Editor is a portable freeware to simplify Desktop.ini operations, it can help you to edit desktop.ini files and set custom folder icons, Info Tips info Folder, add CLSID, reset directory settings to default usw. If Windows decides to ignore any changes to the desktop.ini file.

It has a minimalistic GUI. Drag and Drop any folder to edit Desktop.ini file, you can also use “Select Folder” button. Under the “Attribute Examples” button you will find many features where you can also edit the desktop.ini file manually.

Desktop.ini file customization properties:

• ConfirmFileOp: Set this entry to 0 to avoid “You are deleting system folders” warning when deleting or moving folders.
• IconFile: If you want to specify a custom icon for the folder, set this entry to the filename of the icon. The .ico file extension takes precedence, but .bmp files or .exe and .dll files that contain the icon can also be specified.
• IconIndex: Set this entry to specify the index for a custom icon. If the file assigned to IconFile contains only one icon, set the IconIndex to 0.
• InfoTip: Set this entry to an informational text string. It is displayed as an informative legend when the cursor is hovered over the folder. If the user clicks on the folder, the info text is displayed in the folder's info block, below the standard info.
